Front door of the month! Land of the free and the home of the brave!

I love a well adorned front door, don't you?  July is one of my favorite months to decorate for.  There are several reasons this is the case.  First, the 4th of July makes me feel nostalgic for the days of tractors and church choirs in small town parades.  Second, red, white, and blue is one of my favorite color schemes.  Third, the flowers are in bloom.  In Utah, we celebrate ALL month long because we not only have the 4th, but we also have Pioneer Day on the 24th, which celebrates the day Mormon Pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley.  It's like the 4th on repeat complete with fire works and everything.  So, why not take advantage and keep the fun decorations up all month?  Besides that, it seems like every little town in Utah has their own (instert town name here) Days.  Draper Days, Herriman Days, Riverton Days...  You get the picture.  These include fun activities like rodeos, parades, bike races, 5 K's, fireworks, etc.  It's a fun time to live in Utah.

So here is a look at my July door.  I love a bright red berry wreath.  They are just so cheerful.  I tend to keep my wreaths pretty basic with just some pretty ribbon.  This one has a royal blue plaid ribbon and a red and white herringbone ribbon.  I pulled one of my red painted Ikea tables from my back deck and used it to add a little height variation and interest.  I have a huge pot of brightly colored petunias by my door all summer long and I just stick a flag in them for July.  Add a lantern and some cute little jars with fresh cut flowers from my yard and that's it.  Let's go to the parade!!

Speaking of parades....  I'm a cheer mom, so July also means PARADES!!  Hannah had the opportunity to be in the Riverton Parade this year.  She loves riding in the parade and waving at people and throwing candy.  Is that just a Utah parade tradition?  You go and all the people in the parade throw candy at you.  It's fun.  My kids love it.  We have enough taffy to last us for months.

Hannah all ready to rock the Riverton Parade

Lucy loves watching for her sister.  And she stuck her hand in a blue slushie.  Thus the blue hand.
