Nate and I have been married for 16 years.  In that time, we have actually owned 2 mattresses, which isn't bad. But we have used the same bed, dresser, nightstands, and tiny lamps that we bought when we were first married.  I'm a little bit embarrassed, actually, that my old room was so sad for so long.  It just hasn't been a priority, I guess.

Here is what I have planned for my bedroom.  I was inspired by the calm, sophisticated softness of many of the bedrooms done by the wonderful designers at Alice Lane Home.  I'm keeping it very neutral and quiet by mixing gray, white, cream, tan while grounding the color scheme with a bit of navy and black.  I started noticing designers mixing their neutrals (cool grays with warmer tans and browns) a little while ago.  I love it!  It's a little bit tricky to do, but I feel like it's very current and sophisticated.  Also, it's a great way to work in the gray color that's so popular right now without having to re-paint and re-carpet your entire house if you happen to have the camel colored walls and beige carpet that I do.

So far, I have the bed and most of the bedding.  The nightstands and dresser are going to be delivered today.  I can't wait!  Then it's just drapes, the bench, chair, and art and accessories.  I'm in the home stretch.

Let me tell you about this bed.  It's by Skyline Furniture and it's just so pretty!  I actually ended up ordering it from Allmodern.com, because the bed was no longer available on Wayfair.com. The price was the same ($949 for a King size) and they both offer free shipping.  It looks a LOT like a bed that I love from Restoration Hardware that is listed at $2440.00.  There are some differences, but did you see how I just saved $1,491.00?  AMAZING!!  It did take Nate about 3 hours to put together, but if you ask me, it's so worth it!  I know, you want to see it, right?  You're going to have to wait for the final unveiling of the finished room.
